Call for Artists

Sound Considered Museum Residency at Lincoln Museum

The “Sound Considered Museum” project is pleased to announce a call for artists to participate in an exciting residency initiative to explore the transformative power of sound within museum settings.

We are seeking Lincolnshire-based artists interested in exploring the dynamic intersection of sound, art and accessibility within the museum context. Selected artists will be invited to work with the project curator, the museum and the local community to develop creative responses that challenge traditional museum narratives and engage diverse audiences. The residency will take place between February and June 2024, and will invite artists to set their own parameters of working between other commitments and schedules. Throughout the duration of the residency, artists will have the opportunity to contribute to public events, workshops, and interventions that culminate in a collaborative performance and/or exhibition showcasing their work.

Eligibility:

  • Artists working in any medium with a strong interest in sound and its potential within museum spaces.
  • Artists who are passionate about accessibility, inclusion, and the transformative power of art and senses.
  • Artists must be willing to collaborate with the local Lincoln community, researchers, and museum staff throughout the duration of the residency.

We strongly encourage artists with mixed abilities, experiences and backgrounds to apply. If you need assistance with the application process, please contact Sandra Kazlauskaite at skazlauskaite@lincoln.ac.uk.

Residency Support:

Each artist selected for this project will receive a commission of £750 to produce a new piece of work/response.

  • Artist’s statement (max 500 words) outlining your interest in the project and your approach to sound within the museum context.
